Here at Speak Play Learn we focus on the overall development of your child. Our Speech and Occupational Therapists are provided the latest in research data and techniques and are encouraged to remain lifelong learners to enhance their abilities to provide the best quality services for your child’s development. A defining principle at Speak Play Learn is that we embrace Neurodiversity. Our goal is not only to help your child develop the fundamental skills of communication, but also to ensure that higher level personal and social development skills are not overlooked. We provide a calendar of neurodiversity events where siblings and friends can socialize and develop many of the soft skills that become more challenging with age. The goal is that they learn to speak, to play, and to learn well with others. Make sure to participate, your child may make some new friends! We are a community-based company that believes in making sure families have access to all the resources they need to ensure their young ones are progressing towards their milestones. Be sure to look out for our calendar which will provide programming that also addresses the emotional needs of parents who may be struggling with issues ranging from behavioral outbursts, processing a new diagnosis, navigating insurance needs, or learning about special needs programs. Our calendar of upcoming events reflects this commitment, with guest speakers and program liaisons from the community. Come out to join us!
Speech therapy helps children improve their verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Our team of expert Speech language pathologists (SLP’s) specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders (speech and language impairments), cognitive-communication disorders, voice disorders, and swallowing disorders to ensure your child has excellent articulation, clear speech, and strong vocal muscles for talking and swallowing.
Occupational Therapy (OT) helps our little ones to physically engage in the activities of daily life when a health condition makes it difficult to do so. This may mean learning how to properly hold a pencil for classwork, or learning to follow directions and pick up blocks at home. Our dedicated team of occupational therapists help children do the work of childhood better. The occupations or “work” of children can be broken down into these areas: self-care, school, play/hobbies. That means helping children play, take care of themselves, and participate in their school‘s program as fully as possible. Children are assisted in developing strategies, learning new skills, or adapting their environments to allow them to reach their full potential. Occupational therapy areas of intervention includes addressing visual motor integration, cognition and perception, gross motor and fine motor skills
Feeding Therapy is generally recommended for patients who have difficulty chewing, or swallowing. It is not uncommon for these patients to suffer with gagging or coughing. Often presents in children as “picky eaters” who refuse foods. In this type of therapy, the SLP coaches the patient through oral exercise, facial massage, and specific exercises for the jaw, tongue, and lips to strengthen the mouth muscles for eating, drinking, and swallowing. Once the skills have been properly rehearsed, the SLP may then introduce different textures and temperatures of foods to improve the child's awareness during chewing, swallowing or eating.
Language therapy services are provided by our team of skilled Speech Language Pathologists. Although closely related to Speech Therapy, Language Therapy focuses on the following areas: Language (e.g., ability; comprehension of spoken and written language), Cognition (e.g., attention, memory, ability to solve problems), Swallowing (e.g., stroke, congenital disorders)
Tutoring services are offered for both traditional and special needs students, virtually and in office. Please contact us for details regarding grade levels and subjects.
